We had the privilege of partnering with Qelviq, an innovative company on a mission to redefine the wine cooler experience. Together, we embarked on a transformative journey, guiding Qelviq from concept to the mass production of 5,000 smart wine cooler units, revolutionizing the way wine enthusiasts indulge in their passion.

Qelviq's vision was clear: to create a personal sommelier, a smart wine cooler that combines cutting-edge technology, elegant design, and unparalleled functionality. We were excited to be entrusted with turning this vision into a reality, and we spared no effort in making it happen.

Our collaboration with Qelviq involved a range of critical tasks and expertise, which we seamlessly integrated to achieve outstanding results. Here's an overview of our contributions:

  1. OTA Update and Factory Reset:We implemented Over-The-Air (OTA) update functionality, enabling Qelviq to provide their customers with effortless software updates, ensuring the latest features and enhancements. We also developed a factory reset mechanism, allowing users to restore the device to its original settings if needed.
  2. Bluetooth GATT:To enable seamless connectivity and control, we implemented Bluetooth Generic Attribute Profile (GATT), allowing Qelviq's smart wine cooler to communicate with mobile devices and provide a personalised user experience through dedicated applications.
  3. FreeRTOS:Leveraging the power of FreeRTOS, a real-time operating system, we optimised the performance and responsiveness of the smart wine cooler. This allowed for efficient task scheduling, seamless multitasking, and robust overall system stability.
  4. Cooling Algorithm:We developed a sophisticated cooling algorithm that ensures precise temperature control within the wine cooler. By carefully monitoring and adjusting temperature parameters, we created an environment that perfectly preserves the quality and flavour of each bottle of wine.
  5. ESP32 Powered:The heart of Qelviq's smart wine cooler lies in the ESP32 chipset, a powerful and versatile platform for IoT applications. We harnessed its capabilities to deliver a reliable, high-performance device that seamlessly integrates with the connected ecosystem.

But our contribution didn't stop at the technical aspects. We were committed to guiding Qelviq through every step of the journey, from idea to mass production. We provided valuable expertise and support in areas such as design refinement, manufacturing optimisation, and supply chain management. Our comprehensive guidance ensured a seamless transition from prototype to full-scale production, resulting in the successful realisation of 5,000 smart wine cooler units.

Quality assurance was a top priority throughout the process. We developed test tooling that combined physical tests and software tests, utilising our Python tooling expertise. This allowed us to thoroughly validate the performance, functionality, and reliability of each Qelviq unit, guaranteeing the highest level of quality for customers.
